Learning a second language, or for that matter your own language is a never-ending pursuit. As long as we are alive and our brain is in good working order we can learn words, read texts or even create our own writing style.
Learning a language is not just about acquiring lexis, syntax, grammar, phonology, and making generalizations about language use. Learning a language is coming to the realization, as obvious and simple as it may sound, that we are alive.
